Maturity

Date on which a bond or derivative ends or is fulfilled under its terms.

For a bond, maturity is the scheduled redemption date; for derivatives it can trigger exercise, cash settlement or expiry without value. Remaining time affects rate risk and time value. Investors should also examine call rights, repayment schedule and payment conditions.
