Visa and Mastercard launch lucrative cashback promotions

At TradingForFuture.com, we have reported several times in the past on a wide variety of cashback promotions, bonus programs, and payment cards with high discount options to reduce the cost of everyday expenses and at least slightly counteract inflation. In recent weeks, German consumers have once again been able to take advantage of two particularly lucrative cashback promotions from Visa and Mastercard.

Both card providers are attempting to further increase the popularity of their payment methods for online shopping in fall 2025 with attractive cashback offers. Visa and Mastercard are not only enticing customers with high percentages, but are also focusing on easy participation and fast crediting.

Visa: 3% cashback on all online purchases

Visa kicked off its autumn cashback promotion on September 16, 2025. As part of the promotion, which runs until October 14, 2025, every cardholder will receive 3% of the purchase price back directly for online purchases – but only on amounts up to a maximum of €50 per transaction. Those who make multiple purchases can secure a total of up to €25 cashback per registered Visa card.

The promotion is aimed specifically at online shoppers: payments in brick-and-mortar stores or contactless payments via terminals are excluded – however, the detour via the Curve card we use in everyday life is reimbursed, as it debits the desired credit or debit card in the background via an online transaction. It is essential that the Visa card is registered online in advance, which can be done conveniently on the official Visa promotion page by entering your name, email address, and card number.

The advantages are obvious: after every qualifying online transaction, the cashback is usually credited automatically to the card account within two weeks. Visa promises absolute security through Visa Secure and offers particularly convenient and fast payment processing with “Click to Pay.” It is also noteworthy that the entire promotion is independent of the card issuer: whether DKB, ING, Crypto.com, or various neobank offers—any German Visa card can participate as long as it is registered online for the promotion.

The limit on individual purchases (€50 for the full cashback rate) means that savvy shoppers may have to split large purchases into smaller amounts. As always with Visa promotions, the promotion will end early if the total budget of €500,000 is exhausted – so acting quickly is rewarded. Cardholders are also advised to register as many Visa cards as possible in their household, as up to €25 is available per card.

Mastercard Priceless even offers 10% savings

A few days later, on October 1, 2025, competitor Mastercard launched its own cashback campaign, which goes one step further in terms of savings: The popular “Priceless” campaign offers a full 10% cashback on all registered Mastercard payments made online. Mastercard has also set a maximum limit: there is a maximum cashback of €2.50 for each individual transaction, and a total of €25 can be earned per registered card during the promotional period until December 1, 2025.

Registration is also straightforward via the provider’s website. As with the Visa promotion, all online shops are eligible, as well as payments via Apple Pay, Google Pay, and even PayPal. Here, too, the cashback is automatically credited to the card account within a few days of the purchase. Holders of multiple Mastercards can participate with each card individually, thus multiplying the total benefit.

Overview: Comparison of conditions

Combination options increase cashback

Consumers who take advantage of both promotions—i.e., who shop online with a registered Visa card in September/October and with a registered Mastercard in October/November—can earn a total of €50 cashback with each card. Those who frequently spend smaller amounts online and have several cards in their household or family can make the most of the bonuses with a little planning.

But that’s not all: if the payment card is linked to its own bonus and cashback program, the savings can be increased even further, as these bonuses continue to be paid regardless of the two promotions. So, for example, if you use the BBVA Mastercard with its own 3% cashback, you can easily increase your maximum savings. This also applies to the Amazon credit card*, which pays between 0.5 and 2.0% cashback, as well as the various crypto cards from Crypto.com or Plutus.

Once again, a special secret trick is the Mastercard from the payment provider Curve: if you use this, you automatically ensure that the amount is debited from your registered Visa or Mastercard via online transaction. This means that all transactions automatically become online bookings and are therefore eligible for cashback from both providers. If you then use the Go-Back-In-Time or ReFi function to rebook after receiving cashback, you can even double your earnings. The Curve card is completely free* with our link.

Conclusion: Golden times for online shoppers

It is rare for German consumers to be able to secure cashback on everyday online purchases on this scale within just a few weeks. The parallel campaigns by Visa and Mastercard are not only a sign of growing competition between payment service providers, but also offer end customers tangible financial benefits. Whether it’s technology, fashion, Christmas gifts, or Prime Days*, anyone who observes the terms and conditions and registers their cards in time can look forward to generous refunds this fall—paid out quickly and easily, without complicated receipts, codes, or minimum spending requirements!
