Invest in rare collectibles with Timeless

For most investors, investing in traditional checking and savings accounts or in stocks and ETFs is sufficiently diversified. Cryptocurrencies, P2P loans, or even real estate are still the best options available. However, there is much more potential for diversification when it comes to investing in tangible assets and collectibles such as luxury watches, classic cars, whiskey, sneakers, or art. The Timeless Invest* app promises a particularly simple way to invest in precisely such assets.

Anyone who is enthusiastic about luxury watches, art, cars, sneakers, video games, trading cards, or expensive alcohol can conveniently access them via the Timeless Invest app. Until now, this was reserved exclusively for connoisseurs and the wealthy. Instead of paying full price for a Porsche and parking it unprofessionally in your garage, you can purchase a share of it through Timeless and thus participate in the potential increase in value of rare objects. Each asset is divided into fractions, which usually allow you to get started with as little as 50 euros. They are stored tokenized on the blockchain, so that there is always proof of purchase or they can be resold on a secondary market, which creates additional flexibility.

The platform takes care of purchasing, storage, insurance, sales, and the entire transaction process. If Timeless manages to sell the Porsche a few months later at a significant profit, all shareholders receive their purchase price and a share of the profit – completely automatically and transparently. If you want to sell your shares earlier, you can list them on the secondary market, but you are then dependent on finding a suitable buyer according to the principle of supply and demand.

Easy buying and selling

New assets are usually listed via so-called drops, which often sell out within minutes. You can either build up your portfolio this way or simply access the secondary market. Registering with the Timeless app* is intuitive and quick – after just a few minutes, you will already have your first shares in your wallet. If desired, this can even be automated via a savings plan: simply select the category from luxury watches, whiskey, art, wine, or cars and specify how many shares you want to buy per transaction, and shares will be added to your portfolio on a monthly basis.

Every purchase process is well documented: price, fees, historical growth – everything is transparent, with contract confirmation via email. After that, the assets can be monitored via the app. Returns depend heavily on the timing of purchases and sales and, of course, on the performance of the approximately €585 billion market. In practice, performance is often mediocre. Many assets stagnate for years, others rise moderately – but some do not rise at all. That is why diversification is important.

Quite high fees

However, investing via Timeless Invest* is not exactly cheap and is significantly more expensive than traditional investments in stocks or ETFs. A flat service fee of 2% is charged for each purchase transaction. In addition, there is a management fee of between 1% and 8% depending on the asset, often with a maximum of 6%. This covers the platform’s own costs for organizing new collectibles, their storage, and insurance.

Key features:

  • Direct purchase in drops: One share costs €50, and each drop is limited.
  • Trading function: Secondary market for buying and selling shares to other users.
  • Savings plan: Automatic monthly investments can be made via the app.
  • Collector and expert tips: Those who are experts in a niche area, such as watches or trading cards, have a better chance of making a return.

Timeless is operated by Germany-based New Horizon GmbH, is regulated, and is audited by certified public accountants. Ownership rights are clearly defined and decoupled from company insolvency. Blockchain technology also ensures transparency in the allocation of rights and traceability. The platform now has almost half a million users and has financed around 1,000 assets totaling more than €29 million.

Profits from the sale of shares are private sales transactions and are taxed at the personal income tax rate (even tax-free after a holding period of one year). The transaction history in the app makes documentation easier later on.

Good for diversification

Timeless Invest* turns a hobby into an investment. Investors can purchase shares in exclusive and often expensive items starting at just €50 – ranging from limited edition Rolex watches and classic cars to works of art and sneakers. The platform searches for the assets, stores and insures them, and eventually sells them, hopefully with a decent return. This allows you to diversify your portfolio with even a small amount, but you have to accept a longer holding period. The risk of loss in value is high.
