We have already written several times in this blog about how you can earn a bit of money on the side with your credit card’s credit limit, but above all with a cashback card. A lot has happened here again in recent weeks. One or two providers have returned to the field of profitable bonus programs and completely new players have joined the fray. A major credit card provider has also launched a great cashback campaign. We present the latest developments.
New Amazon credit card
In recent years, the Amazon credit card*, which was issued by Landesbank Berlin, has been an important vehicle for our cashback tricks. Now Amazon* has reissued the customer card with the help of the Spanish Open Bank. The card is now available to everyone without an annual fee, but with a lower repayment rate and in some cases significantly higher fees. While the card was previously only free for Prime customers, the basic annual fee is now waived for all customers, meaning it can be used free of charge.
The cashback for all sales made outside of Amazon* also remains the same. As with the old Amazon card, 0.5% is returned in the form of Amazon points. If you buy directly from Amazon*, you get 1% back and therefore double the rate. After all: Prime customers will receive 2% cashback on Amazon sales on selected offer days. This could be the next Prime Day, for example, which will start in October. Previously, there was always 3%.
It gets more expensive when withdrawing cash and using it abroad. Anyone who withdraws money in the eurozone with the new Amazon credit card* pays a fee of 3.9%, but at least 1.50 euros per withdrawal. This can quickly add up: If you withdraw 200 euros twice a month from an ATM, you already have to pay a hefty 15.60 euros in fees. When paying in currencies other than the euro, a 1.5% surcharge applies. This means that the new Amazon credit card* is not only considerably more expensive than its predecessor, but also significantly more expensive than many other credit cards, such as the Barclays Visa* or the Hanseatic Bank* cards from our credit card calculator.
Nevertheless, additional travel benefits can be added for a monthly fee of just under 8 euros. For example, the fees for five withdrawals in foreign currency or the surcharge on payments are waived. On top of this, travel accident and baggage insurance as well as foreign travel insurance are included. This may well be worthwhile for your vacation.
Another exciting feature is the transfer service, which allows you to transfer your credit line to your current account free of charge so that you can also park it in your call money account.

Customers who already had the old Amazon credit card in their portfolio will be credited with a loyalty bonus of 25 euros when they apply via our link*. All others will receive 15 euros.
Sumup Pay
With Sumup Pay, the payment provider has been offering a debit payment card with cashback for some time, but made it much easier to redeem a few weeks ago. From now on, the cashback can no longer only be redeemed at Sumup payment terminals, but transferred directly to the card account, making it theoretically possible to use the card wherever Mastercard is accepted.
Particularly practical: the card can be topped up in real time beforehand via another card – for example via Curve and a cashback credit card stored there. You then receive 1% cashback for every purchase made, which is twice as much as the Amazon credit card* mentioned above.
Another practical feature is that the Sumup Pay debit card can be integrated directly into the Apple Pay and Google Pay wallet, allowing the otherwise completely free, virtual version of the Mastercard to be used. However, the cashback is limited to a turnover of 1,000 euros, which corresponds to a cashback of 10 euros per month. In return, there are no further costs such as a monthly fee or even costs for paying into the card account.
Payzy
Payzy* works in a similar way to the Sumup Pay card. Here, however, the cashback is not collected directly in euros, but in coins, which can be exchanged 1:1 for euro cents and used directly for the next payment. Here, you also receive 1% in coins for every qualified transaction. There is only one virtual Visa card, which can be deposited with the usual wallet providers or with Curve. For transactions on Booking.com, there is currently even 6% back. The account can be topped up free of charge by credit card or traditional bank transfer.
Visa Cashback
Holders of a German Visa card can currently register for the latest “money-back campaign” at Visa and, if applicable, significantly increase their cashback rate during the campaign period. For all card payments when shopping online with the registered Visa card, there is a 2% cashback on payment amounts of up to 50 euros in the period from September 17 to October 15, but this is capped at a maximum amount of 25 euros per card. With the Amazon credit card*, you can therefore save 3% when shopping on Amazon or 2.5% in all other online stores.
A little trick on the side: with the Curve card, all transactions that are then debited with the Visa card registered for the promotion automatically become online transactions. This means you can even collect the cashback at the supermarket checkout. You can save even more when using crypto cards.
